4 Seasons 5 Senses

I love autumn – especially once the leaves begin to change colors. It’s nice to live where the seasons change and our senses are truly stimulated by all the beautiful sites, sounds, smells…

My friend and colleague, Dawn, who lives in Oregon, is both a children’s author and a sign language teacher. I had the honor of serving as her ASL Content Consultant for her second series of Story Time with Signs & Rhymes, which includes Four Seasons! Five Senses! In this book, the readers and listeners learn signs for Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall…See, Hear, Feel, Taste, and Smell. Through the frolicking of adorable penguins, the story-rhyme shares the smell of the air, the taste of berry jam, the feel of sand between our toes, the sound of friends’ voices, the sight of red leaves and a Halloween ghoul on the way to school and so much more.

My preschoolers love to listen to this story, point out all the silly fun the penguins are having, and learn the signs for the four seasons and five senses. It’s a great story to share in any season – stimulate your senses and sign a story!
